At this year’s SupplySide Global, the Natural Products Association (NPA) marked the beginning of its 90th anniversary celebration. This milestone honors nine decades of industry leadership, advocacy and progress toward a healthier America.
The kickoff happy hour, hosted at Bourbon Steak Las Vegas, was more than a celebration; it was the official launch of NPA’s “Fueling the Next 90” campaign — a $5 million capital initiative to strengthen the association’s policy influence, expand member services, and secure the future of natural products in the United States.
Founded in 1936, NPA has been at the forefront of every major milestone for the natural products industry, from the passage of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) in 1994 to recent victories on NMN, NAC and tariff exemptions. The 90th anniversary is not just a time to look back; it’s a call to action for the next generation of advocates, innovators and entrepreneurs who believe that access to safe, effective and affordable natural products is a fundamental right.
During the kickoff event, NPA 90th Anniversary Campaign Chair Adel Villalobos captured the energy of the evening in his opening remarks.
“For 90 years, NPA has fought to make America healthy again — to ensure that innovation is protected, science is respected, and our industry’s voice is heard at every level of government,” said Adel, founder of Lief Labs. “This campaign is about more than funding. It’s about fortifying our future. What we’ve built not only responds to today’s challenges but lead tomorrow’s breakthroughs.”
The $5 million goal, Adel emphasized, is an ambitious and necessary investment to expand NPA’s reach in Washington, D.C., and across the states, enhance its legal and regulatory programs, and create new platforms for member engagement and consumer education.
The $5 million “Fueling the Next 90” capital campaign will fund several strategic priorities:
1. Advocacy Acceleration: Expanding NPA’s state and federal government affairs capabilities to ensure preemption of harmful state legislation, defend access to supplements, and drive pro-innovation policy.
2. Science & Safety Leadership: Supporting research and regulatory engagement to safeguard lawful ingredients and strengthen consumer trust.
3. Membership Growth & Modernization: Investing in new technology, communications and outreach programs to deliver greater ROI for members.
4. Public Awareness: Elevating public understanding of supplements as part of preventive health and wellness.
As NPA celebrates its 90th year, the association is inviting all industry leaders — from legacy brands to emerging innovators — to be part of the campaign’s Founders Circle, Industry Guardian and 90 for 90 donor tiers. Together, we can ensure that NPA continues to protect, promote and propel the natural products industry for generations to come.
