President and CEO
Daniel.Fabricant@npanational.org

Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Natural Products Association (NPA), the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization. NPA’s mission is to protect the rights of consumers to access products that maintain and improve their health, and the rights of retailers and suppliers to sell those products. Under Dr. Fabricant’s leadership, NPA represents hundreds of members involved in dietary supplements, functional foods, natural personal care products, and more.

With a career spanning both government and industry, Dr. Fabricant brings a unique and authoritative perspective to regulatory, scientific and policy issues impacting natural products. Prior to rejoining NPA in 2014, he served as the Director of the Division of Dietary Supplement Programs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. While at FDA, Dr. Fabricant was instrumental in shaping modern dietary supplement oversight, leading enforcement actions to protect the public health and hold accountable “bad actors,” initiating recall protocols, and enhancing industry’s compliance with cGMPs (current good manufacturing practices).

Dr. Fabricant previously held senior positions at NPA, including Vice President of Global Government and Scientific Affairs, and served as interim CEO in 2009. He led the development of key NPA programs, including the NPA Natural Seal and Supplement GMP Certification Program, which continue to set industry standards for transparency and quality.

A pharmacognosist by training, Dr. Fabricant earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications and is recognized globally for his expertise in dietary ingredients, botanical science and public health policy.

Dr. Fabricant is a frequent speaker at industry and scientific conferences, a trusted media source and a leading advocate for consumer access to natural products. Under his leadership, NPA continues to champion science-based advocacy, regulatory clarity and the protection of consumer choice through its work on Capitol Hill and with regulatory agencies.
